On the morning of the 25th, the opening ceremony of the Chongqing to Hubei DC Back-to-back Networking Project was held in Yiling District, Yichang City, Hubei Province. According to the relevant person in charge of State Grid Corporation of China, Chongqing to Hubei DC back to back networking project will apply the world's highest voltage level (± 420 kV), single converter unit transmission capacity of the largest (1.25 million kilowatts) of flexible DC technology,which is China's flexible new breakthroughs in the development of DC technology.
Flexible DC transmission is the most controllable and adaptable transmission mode, and our country is in a leading position in this field in the world.
Chongqing to Hubei DC back to back network project has a total investment of 6.49 billion yuan, with the total capacity of 5 million kilowatts.In December 2016, it was approved by the National Development and Reform Commission and is scheduled to be completed and put into operation in 2018. Two new DC back-to-back converter stations will be built in Yichang and Enshi.After the project is completed, the Sichuan-Chongqing Power Grid and the four provinces in central and eastern China will achieve asynchronous interconnection, which can fundamentally solve the stability problem of the 500 kV long-span power grid and effectively reduce the impact of the "weakened power supply" of the UHV power grid structural risk, simplify the control strategy of power grid security and stability, and improve the operation flexibility and reliability of power grid.
